Has the rain created some major headaches for you?
Did you know that for every inch of rain that falls on 1,000 square feet of your roof produces more than 600 gallons of runoff? Kansas City gets on average almost 40 inches of rain a year! Pooling, oversaturated lawns, and leaky basements are a clear indication of poor drainage in your yard. Pfeifer Landscaping prides itself on going the extra mile to prevent and fix water issues – we don’t believe in short cuts. We believe in doing what we say we’re going to do, and priding ourselves on proper communication and install from day one. Year after year, the KC metro area will continue to get hard rainfalls that may continue to cause major issues with your property.
The best fix for any drainage issues is fixing the grade of the soil. This enables the water to drain freely away from the foundation of your home or a problem spot in the yard.
Downspout water diversion
Puddling near downspouts is one of the most common issues we see. Ideally downspouts should kick out away from the homes foundation 6 – 10 feet. A buried PVC downspout extension could be installed to direct the water away from the foundation.
French drains are a trench system that is dug in the middle or along the wet area of a yard. Essentially a french drain system is a “sponge” that will collect the surface water and direct it to a different location.
